With the popularity and continued education of becoming more environmentally friendly, several different avenues are being used to promote “going green”. One such avenue is the development of environmentally friendly board games that the entire family can enjoy.

There are a few ways that companies are implementing an eco-friendly attitude when producing board games. Some are taking the literal route, and making games out of recycled materials or wood. Instead of picking up a chess set with plastic pieces, companies are hoping consumers will purchase the same set but made out of wood. Bamboo is also often used to produce these games, since it grows back fairly quickly. Any games that use wood or bamboo that would like to add a dash of color to their games use natural dyes. In addition to being more environmentally sound, using wood and the natural dyes are also non-toxic as compared to other ways in which games are produced.

Some games also use Earth friendly materials, but also have an Earth friendly theme to go along with them. There are games that focus on animals, gaining clean air, and learning more about the environment in order to gain points and win. These games are educational as well as entertaining, and are recommended for teachers who want to have a fun way for kids to learn about the environment.

The written information should be cohesive with as few spelling errors as possible. Too little information will make the game seem disinteresting, while too much information will not get people to play it. Do not give away plot devices or key elements of the game.
