egoban.org goes open source!

Yes, that's right, you can now run your own Go site with all the functionality used here.

If you are a python developer and feel like helping, or would like a custom-built Go site let us know.

What's different from the previous version?

Most of the code has been rewritten and is now easier to maintain.
New graphics: Better looking stones and board. egoban.org also fully scales to a variety of screen sizes, from mobile phones to your brand new 32 inch screen. Try increasing/descreasing your font size (Ctrl +/-, or CMD +/- on safari browsers) to find what's suitable.

New features

Printing pdf diagrams is now supported.
Because egoban encourages users to comment and add variations to other games, we have incorporated full versioning and change tracking. That is if you are the owner of a game and somebody altered it you can always revert to some previous version of it.
You can now add Go-related events and news that once published will appear in the news/events sections.

Private/public games and copyright.

An important change in egoban v2 is that now you can have private games in your repository that you can share only with users you specify. This happens in order to facilitate private lessons and repositories.
In order to make your games public you have to submit them for review and if accepted anybody will be able to see them and comment on them.

Note that only non-copyrighted games will be published. When submitting a game for review it means that you accept its publication under the Creative Commons license.
