New Ninja Turtles Movie Gets a Reboot

Many people are familiar with the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ television cartoon series of the 90′s. There will be a new ‘Ninja Turtles’ movie released by Paramount and produced by Michael Bay, who is famous for working on The Transformers movies, and is set to begin filming this April. The scheduled release date for the movie will be May 16th 2014. The original release date was going to be in December of 2013 but has since been pushed back to May 16th 2014 which works because this is the 30th anniversary of the turtles. Go here to learn more about the TMNT movie.  This will also be the same release date of the new Godzilla movie.

The release of this movie has been both a source of anticipation and backlash for ‘turtles’ fans everywhere. After an early version of the screenplay leaked on the web fans are questioning whether or not this movie will be authentic enough to capture the interest of the general audience. The worry for fans is that they will replace the “teenage” and “mutant” part to them just being “Ninja Turtles”. The original story is that the turtles were baby turtles hanging out in the sewer when a chemical ooze transformed them into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The new story line reboot is said to follow the idea that the Ninja Turtles are actually a part of an alien race of turtles from outer space. It’s still being decided whether or not the ‘turtles’ will wear special suits. This reboot has some fans up in arms against the film.

Whether the idea of this reboot on the traditional story scares you or excites you this movie is bound to add more layers and angles to the traditional Ninja Turtles platform. Ninja Turtles creator Kevin Eastman says “From what I have seen, it’s easily the best ‘Turtle’ movie yet.” Clearly the creator of the ‘Turtles’ is supportive of the new movie and it is very possible that the fan base will rally behind the movie once they get a taste of the trailer. If the changes are anything like the changes made to the Transformers movies then they may be annoying to some of the diehard fans out there but they will get used to them. In the end it is very possible that most fans both old and new will have something to be excited about as they anticipate the release of this new movie.

The Evolution of Online Chatting

There was a time in our recent history where if you wished to speak to someone your options were to meet them in person, call them on the phone, or write them a letter. Obviously, this was a very different time before the internet came into being. After decades of obscurity, the internet finally became main stream in the early ‘90s, and gave rise to a fourth form of communication: online chatting. While only a little over two decades has passed since then, online chatting has evolved quickly over the years and has existed in various forms.

E-mail was the first widely accepted form of online chatting and arguably the most memorable. While not as popular today in comparison to other online methods of communication, e-mail is still a staple of online chatting and many people still prefer to converse over e-mail as opposed to newer options. Ironically, in its earliest days e-mail required both the author and the intended recipient to be online at the same time, an attribute shared by instant messaging; a “newer” form of chatting online that began to displace e-mail’s popularity as time passed.AOL Instant Messenger was released in 1997 and was arguably the most popular of the instant messenger style of software that had its heyday in the mid to late ‘90s. Instant messaging was more or less a faster version of e-mail that allowed the user to instantly share messages with their friends and family while they were free to surf the web or play Minesweeper. While e-mail remained the standard method of communication in professional circles, the younger generations readily embraced instant messaging. For years, kids in grade school would rush home from school only to instantly log onto AIM in order to chat with their friends about the day.

As MySpace, Facebook, and other social networks rose and fell, most of the features instant messengers provided were absorbed into them which provided the core foundation of the social platforms we have today.  Your networks of friends grew and more advanced features were evolved like facebook smiley faces and others. As computers and technology have increasingly evolved, so has the outlook for online chatting. As built-in web cams become more common, internet users have largely dropped text based methods of communication in favor of services like Skype and other video applications. However, instant messaging still has a strong foothold with its ties to social networks which grows more popular by the day.

The future of online chatting is anyone’s guess. As technology becomes better and better, the internet will only increase in functionality and will only become more of a part of our lifestyle. The rise of the smartphone is also an integral factor to consider, as nowadays it can be more difficult to go “offline” than be online. Thus, online chatting and online communications in general will only grow more in terms of relevance and convenience. While online chatting has grown from very humble beginnings, it still has a lot of opportunity to continue to grow and evolve.

Eco-friendly board games

With the popularity and continued education of becoming more environmentally friendly, several different avenues are being used to promote “going green”. One such avenue is the development of environmentally friendly board games that the entire family can enjoy.

There are a few ways that companies are implementing an eco-friendly attitude when producing board games. Some are taking the literal route, and making games out of recycled materials or wood. Instead of picking up a chess set with plastic pieces, companies are hoping consumers will purchase the same set but made out of wood. Bamboo is also often used to produce these games, since it grows back fairly quickly. Any games that use wood or bamboo that would like to add a dash of color to their games use natural dyes. In addition to being more environmentally sound, using wood and the natural dyes are also non-toxic as compared to other ways in which games are produced.

Some games also use Earth friendly materials, but also have an Earth friendly theme to go along with them. There are games that focus on animals, gaining clean air, and learning more about the environment in order to gain points and win. These games are educational as well as entertaining, and are recommended for teachers who want to have a fun way for kids to learn about the environment.

With both types of games, there is on occasion companies that not only produce and sell the games, but also give a percentage of the proceeds back to the environment. This is either towards specific charities that help animals, wildlife, rain forests, etc. or charities that help fund programs to teach children and adults about the environment and people’s impact on it.

All in all, there are a few ways for parents and teachers to teach children about the environment. Environmentally friendly games are a great way for kids to learn about different aspects of the environment, different animals, and what they can do to positively affect the world around them. Parents and teachers can also choose to buy games that are made from recycled or natural materials, to make a statement about the importance of the environment. Also, with some game companies giving their proceeds to charities that help the environment, teachers and parents are giving a great avenue to start talking about the environment and how people can help protect it everyday.

How To Make Your Own Game Website

Many people these days want to create their own downloadable video game or pet simulation browser-based game. However, these individuals do not always know where to start or what information they need to know in order to truly begin. Now if someone has begun designing their game or they have finished making it, one of the things they will want is to make a game website. There are numerous hosting services out there that they can choose from, it just takes a little research for them to figure out if they want a free or paid site and what features that they want to include.

One of the important aspects for creating a game website is deciding on the color scheme of the site itself. While it is always a good idea to go with the colors of the game’s title screen, the game developer or creator will want to incorperate complimentary colors into the site for the text. As an example, if someone decides to create a site that is predominately earth-toned (browns and tans) it would not be a good decision to use yellow or orange text. Having a site with an aesthetically pleasing and well thought out color scheme will ensure that the game’s players will return to the site in question.

Graphics and other images are another thing that can be widely debatable and based on the site creator’s preference. While it is a good idea to include screenshots and videos on a game website, it is never a wise choice to flood the site with a plethora of images and little else. The visual media should be interesting and well-placed, yet it should not give away everything there is to know about the game. Visual media is a great way to draw people in, but if the entire storyline is revealed through imagery or videos, people will not want to play the game when they already know exactly what is going to happen.

The written information should be cohesive with as few spelling errors as possible. This text should give the reader an idea of what the game is about, who created it and some information about the characters. Again, it is not a good idea to give too little or too much information. Too little information will make the game seem disinteresting, while too much information will not get people to play it. Do not give away plot devices or key elements of the game.
